The Aquarian Age demands that each one of us become the Leader of our Own Life.

Life is a test. Life exists to challenge us. Life pressurizes us so that we can feel our grit, our strength of Spirit.  Then we experience that ‘Wahe Guru’ moment, beyond all our self-limitations –  we feel our greatness and excellence in this lifetime.

Once we stop resisting and accept these challenges – life can be lived with ease.

There are two ways to live. The JELLYFISH way has us going wherever the current takes us – this is living by our FATE and learning through time and space. This is the hard way. A practical example of this is someone who goes to college – falls into a career and many years later develops an illness, goes into bankruptcy, or the company suddenly collapses. At this point, he feels lost and depressed and wonders how he got to this place. In hindsight, he realizes that  he chose this career for status and recognition or for the false security it could bring or for the love and approval of an authority figure.

The second is the EAGLE way - having the ability to see the bigger picture of our choices. This means being one step ahead of time and space. This is learning through the Guru – the invisible Teacher that lives within each one of us. We access this part of ourselves by opening our 3rd eye, 6th chakra and connecting to our intuition. In order to excel in our life, we need inner vision. This is making conscious choices – having the awareness that it is my EGO that wants approval and recognition of others or the false security of material wealth. When the 3rd eye is open you can see the trajectory of your choices and choices made from ego will always lead to dead end roads.

When the 3rd eye is open the new questions to ask ourselves are What does my Soul want? What is my Destiny? What is my purpose?

There is no better word to describe these times than Change.  Life seems to be speeding up demanding more and more from us. People are experiencing major life changes such as relocation, new career, divorce or marriage, births, deaths, loss or gain of money, health challenges, or extreme changes in diet. Even the Earth herself is going through enormous change. Take a moment to reflect on the person you were just ten years ago?  The Aquarian Age (2012 and beyond) is defined by change and it’s not going to let up.

So, you may as well embrace it!

One of the Greatest Teachers of Change for us is WATER.

5 Things You Can Learn From Water To Manage Change:

1. Creative

If a stream of water finds an obstacle in its path – it doesn’t whine and say “ I can’t do it. I’m too broken  – I’ll just wait here until it goes away”. No. Water always finds another way. It moves around or over the obstacle.  Remember, one of the sutras of the Aquarian Age is There is a Way Through Every Block. Don’t let challenges and obstacles  stop you – tap into your creativity and find a way.

2.  Become Mutable

Water can change its state to liquid , solid or gas depending on the environment.   Be responsive to the Universe – be ready to transform yourself in this lifetime. The Universe may call on you at any time to drop and switch roles.  Perhaps you lost your job after working for many years in the non-profit sector. When seeking new work – don’t discount the corporate world.  Reinventing yourself is not so far fetched – be open to something completely different !

3. Keep Moving

Running water is always healthy and pure. Stagnant water festers and becomes dried up and disappears.  You must keep growing and expanding.  Practice the art of detachment – don’t hold on to the past – let go and keep moving on.

4.  Journeys Back to the Source

All water eventually goes back to the sea.  It is important to remember that we too are making the journey back to our source – Infinity. Stay connected with your inner light so you know which choices will take you to your final destination. Go with the flow of life – it is taking you somewhere beautiful !

5.  Strength In Numbers

A single drop of water on its own doesn’t wield much power. However, many drops of water bonded together creates one of the most powerful forces on the planet. Think of the incredible power of the ocean.   Do not isolate. When experiencing changes surround yourself with like-minded people who uplift and inspire you to your highest potential. Feel the strength and support of a conscious community.

Bring the knuckles of your SATURN (2ND) fingers together. Create a small pressure. Hold this position for at least 1 min while breathing long and deep.

Get Clear – Move through any Emotional State in 3 mins April 23, 2010

Emotions stand for “Energy in Motion”. When we feel strong emotions it clouds our thinking – we just don’t think straight. We can’t seem to separate the emotions from the thoughts and therefore can’t see clearly what is really in front of us.

Here is a simple Meditation to move the emotions through your body to give you clarity.

Meditation for Emotional Balance

Here’s How to Do It

Sit in Easy Pose or feet flat on a chair – spine is stragiht.

Place your arms across the chest and lock hands under the armpits, palms open and against the body.

Raise the shoulders up tight reaching toward the earlobes – like you are a pouting child.

Apply Neck Lock by tucking the neck in toward the chest with the spine straight.

Eyes are closed.     The breath will automatically become slow.

Continue for 3 mins.

To end, relax the hands down, sit quietly and enjoy your inner space of peace. You will notice that you have created a space independent of your rational mind. Your mind will still have thoughts and you can observe them, but you can choose to be in your peaceful space or neutral mind.

Pulling the shoulders up toward the ears and tightly locking the entire area creates a solid break to the four sides of the brain. After 2 or 3 minutes, thoughts will be there, but one does not feel them. This is a very effective method of balancing the brain.

Sitali Breath

This yogic breath will help calm the mind  and soothe the emotions such as anger, anxiety and frustration. Also good for fevers or when you feel overheated.

Will give you a  feeling  of contentment.

Here is how you do it:

Sit up with a straight spine on the floor or in a chair.

Hands in gyan mudra ( pads of thumb and index finger touching)
Open mouth and curl your tongue like a taco.

INHALE  through the curled tongue. Close mouth and EXHALE through the nostrils. Continue this cycle.

Practice this breath for 3 – 11 mins  bring contentment into your life.

There’s no way around it. Life is a constant flow of beginnings and endings. We humans have a way of welcoming and celebrating beginnings: births, getting the job, getting the partner, buying the home. We have a much lower opinion of endings: death, divorce, being fired.

We find something and we feel blessed. We lose something, we feel cursed. We try to clear the clutter and find our new mantra is “I might need that some day”. We stubbornly cling to people, things and stories that no longer serve us. Holding on to the past is the one of the greatest sources of suffering that humans inflict upon themselves.

One of the qualities of the Age of Aquarius (also called the Information Age) is that everything moves very fast. In order to thrive, we must learn to become flexible, agile and light – not only in our bodies, but in our minds.

10 Things you can do Right Now to Release the Past

Start on the physical – the Universe loves grand gestures !

1. Write down on pieces of paper 10 habits you want to drop – then burn them one by one.

2. Go on a Cleanse.

3. Clean out closets of old clothes etc. – look in truth at what these things represent to you.

4. Throw away old letters, pictures –  especially anything that reminds you of relationships that no longer serve you.

5. Don’t listen to thoughts that keep you in the past – stay PRESENT with yourself.

6. Be open to opportunities that help you GROW –  do something NEW and different to shake up your life.

7. It doesn’t matter who you were – it matters who you are right now!  Make choices that take you where you want to be.

8. Move your furniture around to make a different arrangement

9. Set boundaries – know that when you say NO to others you are saying Yes to yourself !

10.  FORGIVE –   the people in your past that have hurt you and especially forgive yourself knowing that you did your best with what you had.

3 Min Exercise to Let Your Spirit Soar ! April 9, 2010

Here is a quick yogic exercise you can do when you feel like your morale is low and you just want to give up.

It will give you a fighting spirit so you keep going and don’t give in.

Come standing and spread the legs as wide as possible while keeping your balance.

Arms bent at the elbows at 90 degrees with forearms parallel to the floor.

Begin to rotate the hips in large circles – breathe deeply as you circle – doesn’t matter what direction.

Do this for 3- 5 mins and let your Spirit Soar !

This exercise may be painful and works on a part of your spine which is never massaged. It is said that Moses taught this to the Jewish people before long journeys to raise their spirits and give them the will to keep fighting and not give in.

Being you can be one of the easiest and most difficult things to do in the world. To be authentic is to be in Truth. Being in Truth means being honest with yourself, and where appropriate, acknowledging and expressing how you feel, your needs and your vulnerabilities. It is the ego that would have us believe we are the only ones in the world that feel lonely, sad or afraid. We are all human and share the same range of emotions whether we express them or not.

In a group, if one person speaks the truth – it is often an energetic relief for the others. When truth is expressed, it gives permission to other people to also express themselves. It takes great courage to be the first one to speak the truth – especially if people (i.e. egos) do not want to hear the truth.

Remember, the Universe is Truth so when we are aligned with truth we are aligned with the power of the Universe. Anything that is untrue will not remain – the truth eventually wins out. We are entering into the Aquarian Age and this is the AGE OF TRUTH. We will not be able to hide from others or ourselves any longer. In fact, we will become transparent to one another.

Many of us have been made to feel that we are not good enough by authority figures in our lives (parents, teachers etc) or indirectly through media and advertising. Many of us are trying to be someone else: the latest Hollywood star, sports celebrity, model, business tycoon or someone else you admire.

For example, the beauty and fitness industry thrives on the insecurities of both women and men. They send the message that we need to ‘make up’ for some lack in ourselves. They would have us believe that the perfect body (with enlarged or reduced parts) will bring us happiness and ultimate fulfillment.

The Aquarian Age teaches that we are each whole and complete unto ourselves. Happiness in the Aquarian Age requires that we be no less than authentic and truly share ourselves with one another.

5 Steps to ‘Be You’

1. Relax: you can only be you when you are relaxed in mind and body.

2. Laugh at Yourself: if you make a mistake, learn to laugh at yourself and your foibles. Don’t take yourself so seriously.

3. Accept yourself: stop judging and criticizing yourself and perceiving yourself through other people’s eyes. Let go of what other people think of you.

4. Spend some one on one quality time with yourself: get to know who you are without the distraction of others. What are the values and principles you live by? Create a Life Vision statement.

5. Stop Comparing yourself to Others: Love yourself – unabashedly. Look in the mirror each day and use loving affirmations (they really do work!). Don’t try to be someone else – Be the Best ‘You’ you can be!

Strengthen your Aura with Breath of Fire March 19, 2010

Does the thought of going to a busy mall fill you with a sense of dread?  Do you come home from a day  of socializing  feeling exhausted and drained?

This is an indication that your aura may need some reinforcement. The aura (7th yogic body ) is a shield of protection that surrounds your physical body.  It can repel negativity from other people, environments and illness.

A quick way to expand your aura so that you feel confident, safe and secure is to do Breath of Fire.

*Breath of Fire is an equal inhale and exhale through the nostrils with no pause in between.  The easiest way to learn it is to open your  mouth and pant like a dog. When you get the hang of it – close your mouth and do the same breath through your nostrils.

Go at your own pace and rhythm. Breath of Fire is powered by the navel and solar plexus. When you exhale the navel moves toward the spine and on the inhale abdominals relax.

Sit up with a straight spine and try this for 1 – 2 mins.  Inhale deeply. Exhale. Relax. Sit and feel your aura expanding all around you.
