An excerpt from the Hopi Elders Message for this upcoming time (2012) ,
Know your garden.
It is time to speak your truth
Create your community.
Be good to each other.
And do not look outside yourself for the leader.
As we enter into the Aquarian Age (2012) , the vibrational frequency of Planet Earth is steadily increasing and we must prepare our physical bodies to receive these new energies. The nervous, glandular and immune systems must be strong to contain the energy. This can be achieved through a regular practice of Kundalini Yoga + Meditation, drinking fresh water and eating healthy organic foods filled with prana (life force of the Universe).
We are seeing many people around the world taking back their power from government institutions especially in areas of their health and well being. This is part of the great shift we are experiencing as we come closer to 2012. The Aquarian Age is calling us to become self- responsible for the reality we create.
Here is just one story of one Urban Farmer whose goals are: to grow food, to grow minds, and to grow community.
Anyone can Grow Food
Will Allen, who is 60, asserts that our food system is depleting soil, poisoning water, gobbling fossil fuels and stuffing us with bad calories. Like others, he advocates eating locally grown food. But to Allen, local doesn’t mean a rolling pasture or even a suburban garden: it means 14 greenhouses crammed onto two acres in a working-class neighborhood on Milwaukee’s northwest side, less than half a mile from the city’s largest public-housing project.
Allen’s Growing Power Farm provides healthful food to 10,000 urbanites — through his on-farm retail store, in schools and restaurants, at farmers’ markets and in low-cost market baskets delivered to neighborhood pickup points. He employs scores of people, some from the nearby housing project; and converts millions of pounds of food waste into a version of black gold.
With seeds planted at quadruple density and nearly every inch of space maximized to generate exceptional bounty, Growing Power is an agricultural Mumbai, a supercity of upward-thrusting tendrils and duct-taped infrastructure. Allen pointed to five tiers of planters brimming with salad greens. “We’re growing in 25,000 pots,” he said.
Through the hoop houses: rows of beets and chard. Out back: chickens, ducks, heritage turkeys, goats, beehives, spinach, arugula, cilantro.
If inside the greenhouse was Eden, outdoors was, as Allen explained on a drive through the neighborhood, “a food desert.” Scanning the liquor stores in the strip malls, he noted: “From the housing project, it’s more than three miles to the Pick’n Save. That’s a long way to go for groceries if you don’t have a car or can’t carry stuff. And the quality of the produce can be poor.” Fast-food joints and convenience stores selling highly processed, high-calorie foods. “We’ve got to change the system so everyone has safe, equitable access to healthy food.”
Propelled by alarming rates of diabetes, heart disease and obesity, by food-safety scares and rising awareness of industrial agriculture’s environmental footprint, the food movement seems finally to have met its moment. Roof gardens are sprouting nationwide. Community gardens have waiting lists. Seed houses and canning suppliers are oversold.
Today Allen is the go-to expert on urban farming, and there is a hunger for his knowledge. Allen was conducting a two-day workshop to learn worm composting, aquaponics construction and other farm skills. “We need 50 million more people growing food,” Allen told them, “on porches, in pots, in side yards.” The reasons are simple: as oil prices rise, cities expand and housing developments replace farmland, the ability to grow more food in less space becomes ever more important.
“Not everyone can grow food,” Allen acknowledged. But he offers other ways of engaging with the soil: “You bring 30 people out here, bring the kids and give them good food,” he said, “and picking up those rocks is a community event.”
Allen predicts that because of high unemployment and the recent food scares, 10 million people will plant gardens for the first time this year. But two million of them will eventually drop out, he said, when the potato bugs arrive or the rain doesn’t cooperate, However, “The experience will introduce those folks to what a tomato really tastes like, so next time they’ll buy one at their greenmarket.”

Happiness
We all want it
We all want to feel good and excited about our life. We want to jump out of bed in the morning looking forward to the day ahead – feeling our life and existence has meaning and purpose.
Yet we have all been taught to look outside of ourselves for happiness. This is the ego’s version of happiness. Some examples of ‘ego talk’ are:
• When I have that healthy and fit body then I will be happy.
• When I have that perfect relationship or ideal career – then I will be happy.
• When I have more money, more time, more fill in the blank – then I will be happy.
Most people will chase this next promise of happiness right to their grave.
The ancient sages and yogis taught that true happiness is found inside and is not dependent on any outside circumstances.
I will be doing a weekly video series on the 7 Steps to Happiness. Click here for the Introduction and be sure to subscribe so that you can view each video at your leisure.
5 Things to Do Right Now to be Happy
1. Fake it till You Make It
Smile more even if you don’t feel like it! The muscles used to smile send messages to the brain to release endorphins (feel good hormones). Smiling can shift your consciousness.
2. Laughter Can Clear a Room Full of Negativity
The best thing you can do when faced with negative people or negativity in general is to laugh– even if you are the only person laughing. Negativity cannot exist in the light – just like when we turn on a light in a dark room – the darkness disappears. The physical act of laughing is one of the best ways to pull yourself out of a state of non-happiness – it relaxes muscle tension, improves immune system, clear lungs, improves blood flow and it is very good for the heart.
3. Surround yourself with Happy People
Go through your list of friends. Do you have foul-weather friends that are “on your caseload” and only call you when they are feeling bad? Life is too precious – bless them and move on. Make new friends more aligned with who you are becoming. Happiness is contagious. Keep company with happy and joyous people who appreciate you.
4. Sing! Chant mantra!
This is the fastest and easiest way to shift your consciousness to a positive happy state. ‘Wahe Guru’ (remember to roll your ‘r’ and flick your tongue on your upper palate ) is the best mantra to use when you feel yourself slipping down in vibration. Some symptoms of going down in vibration are, you feel bad, have negative thoughts and experience feelings of fear and anxiety. The technology of Naad Yoga (chanting mantra) will raise your vibration very quickly.
5. Welcome to the Party Planet
“ Life is a movie. Grab your popcorn and enjoy the show”
-Yogi Bhajan
This earth is to be enjoyed. As souls, we have signed up for this incredible shift in consciousness called the Aquarian Age. This Golden Age opportunity only comes around every 26,000 years. Make a choice and stay in tune with the higher frequencies of energy which include joy and happiness. Trust and enjoy the incredible experience of divinity in human form.

Everyone knows someone whose dog ‘walks them’ – the dog jumps on everyone, eats garbage, barks nonstop and is in a word unruly. The dog owner usually has the sheepish look of, “Oh well what can you do? The dog does what it does’’. In truth, all the dog needs is a little discipline and leadership and it can be transformed from monster to angel. This same principle can be said for our own mind.
The mind can be like the nightmare dog, pulling us left and right with non stop thoughts and making us chew on garbage like gossip and negativity. We incessantly ‘bark’ – speaking whatever is on the mind and jumping on others with wrong assumptions and projections. Our mind was never meant to be our Master – it is the given Servant to our soul’s journey
We are now in the Information Age, our mind’s sensitivity is increasing and will not be able to manage all the information coming at us. You may already be feeling overwhelmed by your mountain of daily e-mails, Twitter, Facebook, television and cell phones. There doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day to get everything done. This information overload is only going to increase.
5 Things you can do right now to Be the Pack Leader of your own Mind.
The best and most efficient way to become the leader of your mind is to meditate. Meditation gives you a relationship with your mind otherwise you believe that you are the one thinking and get lost in the thoughts of the mind. The mind generates thousands of thoughts at the wink of an eye – that is its job. You choose what thoughts you attach yourself to.
Breathe – the mind must obey the breath – slow down your breath and slow down the mind. Inhale 10 sec, Hold 10 sec and Exhale 10 sec
Mantra – man (mental) tra (vibration) will soothe the waves of the mind through vibration – mentally vibrate or chant out loud Sa Ta Na Ma a powerful sound current that cuts through your ego so you can experience your divinity
Meditate – go to a Kundalini Yoga and Meditation class near you – or another meditational practice
Daily Sadhana – cultivate a daily spiritual practice for yourself. Get up early in the morning to start your day the right way — every day
Nature - move away from electronic gadgets, move out of the mind and look at nature: trees, sky, birds – tune into the stillness and peace
Understand through Compassion or you will Misunderstand the times May 21, 2009

“Understand through compassion or you will misunderstand the times.”
This is one of the five * Yogic Sutras for the Aquarian (Information) Age.
In the Age of Aquarius, the age of enlightenment, we are being called to move out of the Piscean motto, what’s in it for me ? to the Aquarian motto, how can my actions benefit the whole ?
Compassion is learning and acting from the heart. If we choose to go into judgment or look away from our suffering fellow human beings we are misunderstanding the times. It is only the ego and mind that keep us separate from one another and in denial of the truth.
The Aquarian Age is recognizing that we are ONE human tribe on planet earth, all of us brothers and sisters connected by ONE spirit. We are here on this planet to serve, uplift and help one another.
REFLECTION: Keep your heart open today as you approach people and challenges. Resist the urge to go into the mind and ego to become separate. Remember to look into the eyes of others to see the same light that lives in us all.
Practical examples of people around the world practicing this sutra.
*A sutra is a ‘knot’. It is a complex spiritual concept reduced to one sentence and later expanded upon by a spiritual teacher. Sutras allowed sacred teachings to be protected from harm (by appearing harmless to conquerors) and were brief enough to be remembered by students in ancient times.
