It doesn’t take time to open your heart and to feel the love in you. But when will you do it ? That is what takes time.
- Yogi Bhajan (Master of Kundalini Yoga)

Now is the time to bow your head to your heart. As we enter into this NEW AGE of ENLIGHTENMENT we are all being called to live from our hearts. Try it just for today – FEEL people first – set your intention to be in your HEART – then speak to them. Then watch your relationships with people in your life radically shift and change into a more authentic connection
Here is a quick exercise you can do to open your heart – do this for at least 3 minutes.

Happiness – We all Want It June 18, 2009

Happiness
We all want it
We all want to feel good and excited about our life. We want to jump out of bed in the morning looking forward to the day ahead – feeling our life and existence has meaning and purpose.
Yet we have all been taught to look outside of ourselves for happiness. This is the ego’s version of happiness. Some examples of ‘ego talk’ are:
• When I have that healthy and fit body then I will be happy.
• When I have that perfect relationship or ideal career – then I will be happy.
• When I have more money, more time, more fill in the blank – then I will be happy.
Most people will chase this next promise of happiness right to their grave.
The ancient sages and yogis taught that true happiness is found inside and is not dependent on any outside circumstances.
I will be doing a weekly video series on the 7 Steps to Happiness. Click here for the Introduction and be sure to subscribe so that you can view each video at your leisure.
5 Things to Do Right Now to be Happy
1. Fake it till You Make It
Smile more even if you don’t feel like it! The muscles used to smile send messages to the brain to release endorphins (feel good hormones). Smiling can shift your consciousness.
2. Laughter Can Clear a Room Full of Negativity
The best thing you can do when faced with negative people or negativity in general is to laugh– even if you are the only person laughing. Negativity cannot exist in the light – just like when we turn on a light in a dark room – the darkness disappears. The physical act of laughing is one of the best ways to pull yourself out of a state of non-happiness – it relaxes muscle tension, improves immune system, clear lungs, improves blood flow and it is very good for the heart.
3. Surround yourself with Happy People
Go through your list of friends. Do you have foul-weather friends that are “on your caseload” and only call you when they are feeling bad? Life is too precious – bless them and move on. Make new friends more aligned with who you are becoming. Happiness is contagious. Keep company with happy and joyous people who appreciate you.
4. Sing! Chant mantra!
This is the fastest and easiest way to shift your consciousness to a positive happy state. ‘Wahe Guru’ (remember to roll your ‘r’ and flick your tongue on your upper palate ) is the best mantra to use when you feel yourself slipping down in vibration. Some symptoms of going down in vibration are, you feel bad, have negative thoughts and experience feelings of fear and anxiety. The technology of Naad Yoga (chanting mantra) will raise your vibration very quickly.
5. Welcome to the Party Planet
“ Life is a movie. Grab your popcorn and enjoy the show”
-Yogi Bhajan
This earth is to be enjoyed. As souls, we have signed up for this incredible shift in consciousness called the Aquarian Age. This Golden Age opportunity only comes around every 26,000 years. Make a choice and stay in tune with the higher frequencies of energy which include joy and happiness. Trust and enjoy the incredible experience of divinity in human form.

“Understand through compassion or you will misunderstand the times.”
This is one of the five * Yogic Sutras for the Aquarian (Information) Age.
In the Age of Aquarius, the age of enlightenment, we are being called to move out of the Piscean motto, what’s in it for me ? to the Aquarian motto, how can my actions benefit the whole ?
Compassion is learning and acting from the heart. If we choose to go into judgment or look away from our suffering fellow human beings we are misunderstanding the times. It is only the ego and mind that keep us separate from one another and in denial of the truth.
The Aquarian Age is recognizing that we are ONE human tribe on planet earth, all of us brothers and sisters connected by ONE spirit. We are here on this planet to serve, uplift and help one another.
REFLECTION: Keep your heart open today as you approach people and challenges. Resist the urge to go into the mind and ego to become separate. Remember to look into the eyes of others to see the same light that lives in us all.
Practical examples of people around the world practicing this sutra.
*A sutra is a ‘knot’. It is a complex spiritual concept reduced to one sentence and later expanded upon by a spiritual teacher. Sutras allowed sacred teachings to be protected from harm (by appearing harmless to conquerors) and were brief enough to be remembered by students in ancient times.

Yogi Bhajan, the master of Kundalini Yoga, said during the cusp period between the Piscean Age and the Aquarian Age – humanity would be feeling a state of mind called Cold Depression. In this state you are not aware that you are depressed – it is a low level apathy. Nothing seems to matter – everything feels empty. Watch this video for more information and how you can pull yourself out …
The Enemy Lies Within – the Need for Self-Acceptance March 24, 2009

“The greatest enemy is the self. Self – defeating activities and self-animosity happens when we do not accept our selves. “
-Yogi Bhajan (the master of Kundalini Yoga)
In the Aquarian Age, we realize that there are no enemies outside of us any longer – the real enemy can be found inside each one of us.
When you become more self-aware through your meditational practice, you will soon discover that within you lives a battleground. It’s like having an entire village of voices inside of you – each one clamoring for power and control. Sounds a bit scary – like the movie Cybil – but this is normal for most!
For example, you want to deepen your commitment to your spiritual practice, take better care of your health, start your own business, or pursue your art and dreams and yet something stops you from moving forward. What prevents you from sharing your unique gifts with the world? It is the self that is in conflict and uses all that life force energy for ‘the battle’ inside you rather than for manifesting your dreams. Here is what happens when you receive the guidance to move forward on your dreams. The voice of sabotage will say, “Screw it, let’s have some fun – you only live once”. The voice of criticism says, “You will never be good enough – you will never succeed. Why bother even trying.” Or the voice of fear says, “What about money? What would my family or my significant other think?” And so on. All these voices live in the subconscious mind that drives about 85 % of your behavior.
What is at the root of all this ?
This conflict with the self begins in childhood. If all parts of the child are not fully accepted by the earthly parents and other authority figures , the psyche will fracture and split off into pieces. The child psyche is very sensitive and it does this out of survival.
Some parts will be allowed expression, especially if these parts were embraced and encouraged by the outside world. Other parts get buried, locked away and given no expression. Hence, a battle arises between all these different parts of you for control and expression.
Journey Back to the Original Self
The spiritual path is the journey back to the Original Self – to the essence that is ‘you’. The Aquarian Age demands that we become whole again and sovereign unto ourselves. This means going inside to reclaim all parts of you – warts and all!
It is time to fully accept you. Your essence is one of perfection. The creator has not made a terrible mistake in creating you – bring that same unconditional love to yourself.
The bonus is this. When you begin to truly accept yourself – you stop judging and criticizing others. You stop projecting your own self-hatred on to others and you stop creating more human suffering on the planet. With this new awareness, you are able to truly accept others and to give them this priceless gift of healing.
Here is a meditation to begin to accept yourself.

In the Aquarian Age – ‘Be You’ nothing less Will Do ! March 8, 2009

“One thing you have to be more than anything else, you have to be you. Nothing less than you will work. You minus ego is always you. You with your ego is always not you. ”
- Yogi Bhajan
Being you can be one of the easiest and most difficult things to do in the world. To be authentic is to be in Truth. Being in Truth means being honest with yourself, and where appropriate, acknowledging and expressing how you feel, your needs and your vulnerabilities. It is the ego that would have us believe we are the only ones in the world that feel lonely, sad or afraid. We are all human and share the same range of emotions whether we express them or not.
In a group, if one person speaks the truth – it is often an energetic relief for the others. When truth is expressed, it gives permission to other people to also express themselves. It takes great courage to be the first one to speak the truth – especially if people (i.e. egos) do not want to hear the truth.
Remember, the Universe is Truth so when we are aligned with truth we are aligned with the power of the Universe. Any thing that is untrue will not remain – the truth eventually always comes out. We are entering into the Aquarian Age and this is the age of truth. We will not be able to hide from others or ourselves any longer. In fact, we will become transparent to one another.
Being Authentic means that act the same whether you are with good friends, parents, siblings, a supervisor or the police officer that just stopped you for speeding.
“Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”
- Dr Seuss
Many of us have been made to feel that we are not good enough by authority figures in our lives (parents, teachers etc) or indirectly through media and advertising. Many of us are trying to be someone else: the latest Hollywood star, sports celebrity, model, business tycoon or someone else you admire.
For example, the beauty and fitness industry thrives on the insecurities of both women and men. They send the message that we need to ‘make up’ for some lack in ourselves. They would have us believe that the perfect body (with enlarged or reduced parts) will bring us happiness and ultimate fulfillment.
When someone is authentic, they are happy within themselves. Some people think that if they don’t continually improve themselves that they will become lazy and complacent and stop learning, growing and changing. The nature of the Universe is change – it is an illusion that we are not changing every single day.
The Aquarian Age teaches that we are each whole and complete unto ourselves. Happiness in the Aquarian Age requires that we be no less than authentic and truly share ourselves with one another.
5 Steps to ‘Be You’
Relax: you can only be you when you are relaxed in mind and body.
Laugh at Yourself: if you make a mistake, learn to laugh at yourself and your foibles. Don’t take yourself so seriously.
Accept yourself: stop judging and criticizing yourself and perceiving yourself through other people’s eyes. Let go of what other people think of you.
Spend some one on one quality time with yourself: get to know who you are without the distraction of others. What are the values and principles you live by? Create a Life Vision statement.
Stop Comparing yourself to Others: Love yourself – unabashedly. Look in the mirror each day and use loving affirmations (they really do work!). Don’t try to be someone else – Be the Best ‘You’ you can be!
